SN74AVC4T245: What will happen if the outputs of SN74AXC4T245 and AM26LV32IDR are shorted?

Part Number: SN74AVC4T245
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AXC4T245

Hi Team,

We would like to ask your help regarding the customer's inquiry below.

If i am using SN74AXC4T245 in my design instead of SN74AVC4T245DGVR as in the image, when ever i am feeding input to SN74AXC4T245 and keeping AM26LV32IDR input as open, since my both output are shorted together does AM26LV32IDR output during open condition affect my output of SN74AXC4T245.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

In order to avoid bus contention when shorting those two devices outputs, both outputs must be driving high or low at the same time. Also both devices need to be at the same voltage or powered by the same supply. In this case, since the input of the AM26LV32IDR is open, the output is driving high so the output of the SN74AXC4T245 must be driving high to avoid bus contention. Here is a resource for further clarification on shorting CMOS outputs.

    Regards,

    Sebastian
