SN74LVTH245A: leakage current in tri-state?

My customer has the following question:

I am using the TI SN74LVTH245 buffer and am having issues with a data bus while this part is in 3-state (OE=1). It appears that when the device is disabled, the leakage current is high enough that it is interfering with the other circuits. The data sheet does not specify what the leakage current is when the buffer is in 3-state.

Hi Aaron,

This device has bus hold circuits on each I/O pin, which are always active-- their purpose is to maintain the previous state at a pin to eliminate any floating states. If you want to force unused pins to a particular state, then a non bus-hold device should be used.

What's the best device to replace with? Preferably in -EP. SN74LVC8T245MDWREP?

That depends on what characteristics you need, especially drive strength. Some possible alternatives are SN74AHC245-EP, SN74AC245-EP, or SN74ABT245B-EP.
