SN74LVC1G07-Q1: how to achieve wire-or logic?

Part Number: SN74LVC1G07-Q1

Hi Expert,

Can we achieve wire-or function with below structure? Thanks.

BR,

Elec Cheng

  • Hi Elec,

TI doesn't sell BJTs, if you are trying to use a buffers/inverters to create an OR gate I suggest the circuit below:

I recommend the SN74LVC06A-Q1 or SN74HCS05-Q1 for the open drain inverters and SN74LVC1G04-Q1 for the inverter.

  • Hi Sebastian,

I just use BJT as an example. In my customer's case, they have internal pull-up resistor inside the chip for open-drain structure, but they want to realize "wire-or" logic. Is it achievable if they tie several pin together? Thanks.

  • Hi Elec,

What chip are you referring to? Can you provide a schematic? The device you tagged in your post SN74LVC1G07-Q1 is just an open drain buffer (no internal pull up resistor). Using the circuit in my previous reply you can achieve an OR function with all the outputs of the open-drain inverters tied together and pulled up to Vcc, then connect the output to an inverter. The circuit above would be a 5 input OR gate.

  • Hi Sebastian,

sorry to make you confused. Actually the customer doesn't use the product from your BU. But it's related to open drain and wire-or. So I post this question.

Assuming our customer is using SN74LVC06A-Q1, which is open-drain output. But the schematic design is as below. Can they achieve "wire-or" function?
