SN74AHC125Q: Difference between SN74AHC125Q and SN74AHC125-Q1 Automotive grade

Part Number: SN74AHC125Q
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AHC125-Q1,

Dear, Support Team.

I have a  Difference between SN74AHC125Q and SN74AHC125-Q1 Automotive grade question.
Both ratings of SN74AHC125Q and SN74AHC125-Q1 are Automotive grade.
Please tell us about the differences between these two automotive models.
Our customer needs clarification on choosing between these two models.

  • Hi Hiroaki,

These parts are exactly the same, and they will have all the same electrical characteristics. As for why they have different names usually it's because a part number is getting too long so the last Q1 gets cut off. For this one it appears that was the case, but then later we reuploaded it to Ti.com with the Q1 on the end as well.

    Regards,

    Owen

  • Hi,Owen-san
    Thank you for your reply.

I understand that SN74AHC125Q and SN74AHC125-Q1 the same automotive grade and specification.
    Please unify the -Q1 suffixes.

    Hiroaki Yuyama

  • Hi,Owen-san
    Thank you for your advice.

I had a discussion with the customer.
Do the SN74AHC125QPWRQ1, SN74AHC125QPWR, SN74AHC125QPWRG4, SN74AHC125QPWRG4Q1 pass AEC-Q100 qualification have the the same electrical specifications?

If -Q1 is attached to the SN74AHC125Q, can it be differentiated from the current SN74AHC125QPWRQ1 and SN74AHC125QPWRG4Q1?

    Best Regards,
    Hiroaki Yuyama

  • Hi Hiroaki

Do the SN74AHC125QPWRQ1, SN74AHC125QPWR, SN74AHC125QPWRG4, SN74AHC125QPWRG4Q1 pass AEC-Q100 qualification have the the same electrical specifications?

Yes that is correct all pass the AEC-Q100 qualification, and have the same electrical characteristics/specs.

If -Q1 is attached to the SN74AHC125Q, can it be differentiated from the current SN74AHC125QPWRQ1 and SN74AHC125QPWRG4Q1?

No they would then be the exact same device at that point the only difference I could find was the name.

    Regards,

    Owen

  • Hi,Owen-san

    Thank you for your Answer.

I understand that SN74AHC125QPWRQ1, SN74AHC125QPWR, SN74AHC125QPWRG4, SN74AHC125QPWRG4Q1 have the same electrical properties and AEC-Q100 qualification.

The reason why the part number is different is that the name is cut off if the part number is long, so is it correct to understand that the model name that was released later has -Q1?

    Best Regards,
    Hiroaki Yuyama

  • Hi Hiroaki,

The reason why the part number is different is that the name is cut off if the part number is long, so is it correct to understand that the model name that was released later has -Q1?

To be clear this is my assumption of why they are different. These parts were released way before m time at TI, and I can't find any other reason they would be different.

As I said I cannot find any differences between them other than the part number.

    Regards,

    Owen

  • Hi,Owen-san,
    Thank you for your reply.

We found some differences between SN74AHC125QPWRQ1 and SN74AHC125QPWR.
The values for Mold Compound and Semiconductor Device in the Quality, reliability & packaging data report for SN74AHC125QPWRQ1 and SN74AHC125QPWR are different.
Also, the MSL rating/Peak reflow is different between Level 1 and Level 3.
End users of our automotive customers want more information.
Both models are AEC-Q100 qualified, any comments on the differences?

  • Hi Hiroaki,

I'm not sure what the cause of the difference is for the mold compound and semiconductor device. That being said it will not affect usage of the device.

As for the MSL rating you can see the differences between the ratings here MSL Ratings and Reflow Profiles. I will look into why they are different, but both are within the AEC-Q100 specification, and if the user is within the MSL rating there should be no problems.
