Hi team,

Could you please help me to pick up right inverter for crystal oscillator?

The input voltage is 3.3V. The oscillation frequency is 20-40MHz.

The load capacitance is ~10pF each.

Two output channels are needed.

From the app note below, I found the combination of unbuffered and Schmitt-trigger inverter is recommended for crystal oscillator application.

So, is SN74LVC2GU04 + SN74LVC2G14 good choice?

These functions are combined in the SN74LVC1GX04.

When using two crystals, use two devices. If you need two outputs from the same clock, then a single LVC output should be strong enough, but if you really want two separate outputs, use a buffer like the SN74LVC2G34.

By the way, I wonder why the app note doesn't list SN74LVC1GX04 as the recommended inverter.

I recommend you to update E2E Logic FAQ for oscillator, and SCEA099.
