SN74GTL16612 power up sequencing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74GTL16612

I have a question concerning the application of power to the SN74GTL16612 18-bit LVTTL-GTL/GTL+ Universal Bus Transceiver. The latest datasheet I have (SCBS480K–JUNE 1994–REVISED JULY 2005) has a note 2 on page 4 that states "Normal connection sequence is GND first, VCC = 5 V second, and VCC = 3.3 V, I/O, control inputs, VTT and VREF (any order) last." How critical is this sequence? We are looking at this part as a possible drop in replacement, but the issue is that our 3.3 V comes up slightly before the 5 V. Would this sequence cause a problem for the SN74GTL16612? Thanks
