SN74LVC573A: Can this device be powered from 5V supply?

Part Number: SN74LVC573A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AHC573, SN74AC573, SN74LV573A, SN74HC573

Hi Experts,

The part SN74HC573NSR is obsoleted. So we have to find a p2p replacement.

I noted the only p2p and package compatible device is SN74LVC573ANSR, however its recommended supply voltage is 1.65V to 3.6V while actual power supply is 5V. The datasheet specs shows its absolute maximum rating is 6.5V. I am curious can this part be powered from 5.0V (+/-10%) power supply?

Thank you!

John

  • A 5 V supply will not damage the device, but exceeds the recommended operation conditions, so correct operation is not guaranteed. In practice, I estimate that the only problem is that the extremly high drive strength will results in lots of ringing at switching and nearby outputs. But again, there is no guarantee.

Other possible replacements in the NS package are SN74AHC573. SN74LV573A, or SN74AC573.

Anyway, the SN74HC573‍NSR is not obsolete; its status is active on the TI website and at DigiKey and Mouser. Where did you get this information?
