SN74LVC16245A: SN74LVC16245 vs SN74LVCH16245

Part Number: SN74LVC16245A

Hey team,

What is the difference between these two devices? The SN74LVCH16245 datasheet even has a typo stating 'SN74LVC16245' on pg 13 haha

I assume the main difference is the active bus-hold on the H variant.

'Active bus-hold circuitry holds unused or undriven data inputs at a valid logic state. Use of pullup or pulldown resistors with the bus-hold circuitry is not recommended. The bus-hold circuitry is part of the input circuit and is not disabled by OE or DIR.'

Would this spec require changes on the customer's side between the two parts?

Thanks,

Cam

  • Hi Cam,

Yes, you've got it right. The only difference is the LVCH device having bus hold circuitry.

There should be no changes required unless the customer is using pullup or pulldown resistors on the inputs of the LVCH device. These resistors would inhibit the function of the bus hold circuitry and causes issues.
