SN74LVC16245A: Hot plug and unplug applications

Part Number: SN74LVC16245A

Hi Team,

I see the description "Ioff Supports Live Insertion". Could you pls help double check is it ok for both hot plug and unplug applications? If input/output is pulled up before device power-on, will it cause a leakage from signal-Vcc, like body diode or PUs? Thanks!

Regards,
Hailiang

  • Hi Hailiang,

It should be ok for this application. There are no positive input/output clamp diodes on this part, so you should not be able to power the device through the inputs or outputs if there is no voltage on VCC.

Since this is a CMOS device, there will be some leakage that will come from the parasitic capacitance on the input/output FETs, but this should be insignificant.

    Best,

    Malcolm
