CD74ACT138: CD74ACT138M96 thermal characteristics changed with PCN 20240327004.1

Part Number: CD74ACT138

Tool/software:

The CD74ACT138M96  Theta_JA increased from 73C/W to 106.6C/W .    This is quite a change

in Theta_JA and we're trying to ascertain to what extent this affects our product.   We have product shipping

that is a conduction cooled application, and it doesn't rely on on convection cooling at all.

Would TI have any other (more) thermal data on this part?  Are there any Thermal_JC metrics?

There is a possibility that the derated Tj for the device will now be violated but we can't be sure with the

metrics provided by the datasheet.

  • Hi Todd,

Result-Theta JB (standard datasheet value) 64.8
Result- Psi JT (standard datasheet value) 25.4
Result- Psi JB (standard datasheet value) 64.2
Result-Theta JC, bottom (standard datasheet value)
