Subject: Clarification on SN54LS279AJ Footprint and Package Type

Hi TI Team,

Hope you are doing well.

We are using the SN54LS279AJ part in our design, which is a DIP-16 package IC. However, the footprint and land pattern information for this package are not provided in the documentation — only details for the 14-pin version are available.

Additionally, could you please confirm whether the SN54LS279AJ package is CDIP or GDIP, as this is not clearly mentioned in the datasheet?

Hi,

The only difference between the 14 and 16 pin version is the device length, which can be seen in a table on the top right of the package drawing.

The AJ package is CDIP.

Hi Pradeep, the only difference between the 14 pin and 16 pin package is the length. All other parameters (ie width, pitch, height) are the same. We do not provide the land pattern for 16 pins because it is equivalent to the 16 pin land pattern. I highlighted the 16 pin package length in the table earlier. This is the only parameter difference between the 14 and 16 pin package.
