SN74LV8T594: SN74LV8T594PWR

Part Number: SN74LV8T594

We are considering if TI SN74LV8T594PWR can replace NEXPERIA 74LVC594APW,118

Questions:

The function tables and behaviors of these two ICs are inconsistent.

These three items appear similar, but there are still some differences in their descriptions.

Furthermore, some other items do not match in terms of input pin states.

  • Hi Karl,

For items 1 and 2 these will match the behavior stated in the Nexperia DS. The all values referenced in the function will be the values of the associated registers as shown in

The 3rd line you brought up is the same with a H shifting through the storage registers, but there is no change on the values of the output registers.

  • Dear Owen,

VFI R&D main question is: Are all operating modes of this IC fully consistent with those of the NXP device? In other words, can it be used as a direct replacement without requiring any additional firmware or software configuration?

Additionally, could you confirm whether there are any functional differences or limitations we should be aware of before proceeding with the replacement?

    Thanks so much

  • Hi Karl,

Yes this device can be dropped in with all the same functionality.

The only concerns here would be the VIH levels if your design is timing sensitive, and this device will have less drive strength than the incumbent device. It will still be our best drop in part for this though.
