Hi,

Although the regular catalog/industrial version (SN74CBTD16210) of this switch has a tpd = 0.25 ns spec, the Q1 version (SN74CB3T16210-Q1) does not spec a tpd when active enable is connected. Is it safe to assume that both parts have the same tpd, or are the propagation delays different between the two?

Yes both parts would have the same Propagation delays.

Hi Michael and Chris,

Your discussion is quite helpful for me, because I have same question from customer.

Since I'm not familiar with this kind of logic, I'm not sure whether CBTD and CB3T can be considered same "technology", because supply voltage is also different.

Also, can you let me know why some of automotive device does not have tpd spec. while catalog device have?

TPD for switches does not really mean anything. It is just a direct connection from the input to the ouptut with a slight amount of resistance, TPD will be very fast and the .25ns is just a stadard value put on switches.

CBTD and CB3T are different. They will have different Vcc levels and the CBTD is for very slow signal speeds.

CBTD less than 10Mhz and CB3T can go up to 100Mhz or more. They are both made to translate 5V to 3.3V.
