Requirement for driving 74ACT16244 multiple inputs with one signal?

Hi there!

We generate a 500K~1MHZ clock signal from MCU, and plan to fanout 13 clocks with 74ACT16244, by connecting this clock signal to all 13 inputs of 74ACT16244 simultaneously. But we are not sure about this solution, because MCU pin's output capability is not strong.

Is there any requirement for driving 74ACT16244 multiple inputs?

Another question is , how to estimate 74ACT16244's power consumption?

Another solution is to use CDC318A or other CDC chips, but it's much more expensive....

Hi Yi ,

I have attached an app note for calculating CMOS power consumption . Basically , the power has static and dynamic components . Static will be Vcc * Icc and dynamic factors in the switching frequency of the outputs along with Cpd /Cl. The summation will be the total power consumed .

driving multiple inputs will depend on the drive strength of the MCU , the line capacitance and the input capacitance at the device .
Care must be taken to have equal trace lengths otherwise clocks will experience timing skew at the output .
