SN74LV595A Dynamic Current Draw

On the SN74LV595A Rev Q datasheet the 9.2.3 Application Curve of ICC VS Frequency dose not look correct specifically the 5 V, where 20 MHZ of clock indicates 400 MilliAmps. It lack information on setup but I assume the Clock and storage clock are the same frequency but still seems unreasonably high.

  • Hi David ,

You are right , that doesnt seem right to me either , at 1.4A it would burn out the part i imagine . Most likely the units would have to be uA which makes more sense to me , but i will investigate it further and let you know . Will also submit a request to update the datasheet with correct values .
Thanks for pointing it out .
