SN74AVC32T245 slew rate

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AVC32T245, SN74AUP1T34

Hi team

One of our customers wants to know why SN74AVC32T245 can support 340Mbps (1.8V to 3.3V Translation) but the maximum slew rate is 5ns/V on the datasheet. Could you explain about the relationship? Also, can the IC be implemented to the application where translates 1.8V clock signal to 3.3V clock signal for 24MHz and 48MHz?Thanks for your support.

  • Hello Leroy,

I am assuming you are referring to the input transition rise/fall time seen here:

This value refers to the maximum acceptable rise/fall time for any input you apply to the device, not an actual characteristic of the device itself. For example, if you apply an input signal to the device, for proper operation you must ensure that this signal has a rise/fall rate of at most 5 ns/V.

For 1.8V to 3.3V the SN74AVC32T245  can support up to 380 Mbps. This is equivalent to roughly 190 MHz, so 24 MHz and 48 MHz are well within the specifications.

  • Hi Aozer,

Thanks for the detail answer. I have another question regarding to SN74AUP1T34. I cannot find the maximun speed which the IC can support on the datasheet. Is it possible to provide the information? Thanks again for your help.

  • I believe the maximum frequency is 190 MHz, or 380 Mbps at 3.3V.
