SN74ALVC164245: Placement of decoupling capacitors

Part Number: SN74ALVC164245

Dear support team!

In one of our application we want to use the SN74ALVC164245 in BGA-56 package. Is there a recommendation on how to place the decoupling capacitors?

We want to use 100nF / 0402 / X7R for each supply rail - is this choice a good one?

Kind regards,

Markus Nabecker

  • Decoupling capacitors should be placed as near the supply pins as possible. With a BGA package, this can often mean the back of the board. But if that is not possible or too expensive, put them right next to the chip.

0402/X7R sounds OK (these parameters are not that critical).
