SN74ACT245: About DIR status

Part Number: SN74ACT245

Hi all.

I have a question about DIR status SN74ACT245.
DIR has three operation by inputed High signal or Low signal or X.
Is DIR status keeped when the device is powered off or be destroyed?

Or is it sure to be X state?

Best Regards,
Sho

  • Hi Sho,

The SN74ACT245 is an analog device - it contains no processor and no memory.

The DIR pin only has two possible input values - logic LOW or logic HIGH.

Logic LOW is defined as: -0.5 ≤ Vin ≤ VIL

Logic HIGH is defined as: VCC + 0.5V ≥ Vin ≥ VIH

    * The values for VIL and VIH are given in the datasheet under "Recommended Operating Conditions"

The 'X' in the function table refers to a logic condition of "don't care" which means the input can be either LOW or HIGH and the outputs won't change. This does not mean that the DIR pin value can be something other than LOW or HIGH.
