SN74HC373: CD74HC373E

Part Number: SN74HC373
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HC373,

Is the CD74HC373E as an alternate to the SN74HC373N.  Please advise the specific differences in the two parts

thank you and regards,

Diane

  • Hi Diane,
These two parts are functionally identical (ie are pin to pin compatible), but there are minor spec differences throughout the datasheet.

The two biggest differences that jump out at me are:
    1. The CD74HC373 was designed by Harris Semiconductor and acquired by TI. We still manufacture it with their design. The SN74HC373 was designed by TI.
    2. The CD74HC373 only comes in 2 packages - PDIP and SOIC, while the SN74HC373 comes in 5: PDIP, SOIC, SOP, SSOP, TSSOP

What are the key specs/requirements for your application?

These two datasheets are almost identical, page for page, so it is quite easy to spot any differences (for example, SN74HC373 includes a table on switching characteristics at CL=150pF on page 5 that CD74HC373 does not have). Did you have any trouble downloading/viewing the datasheets? Are there particular specs that I can clarify?
