SN74LVC157A: power supply

Part Number: SN74LVC157A

Hi, Team:

My customer want to know if the SN74LVC157ADR VCC is off, but the IO still have input voltage, such as 3.3V, do the SN74LVC157ADR is ok with this voltage and have no impact on the chip's reliabiity?

Thanks!

  • Hi Andrew,
The SN74LVC157A has overvoltage tolerant inputs, so there's no problem having voltages on the inputs while Vcc = 0, however the outputs are not tolerant to overvoltage (as described in the absolute maximum ratings table, V_O(max) = Vcc+0.5V). Applying a voltage to the output when Vcc = 0 can cause damage to the device and back-powering of the Vcc rail.
