CD4024B: CD4024BF and CD4024BE

Part Number: CD4024B

We are looking to  replace the CD4024BF (14-pin ceramic) with the CD4024BE (14-Pin Plastic) due to availability.

Is the plastic part CD4024BE a drop-in replacement - Same Dimensions?

Does the plastic part CD4024BE have the same environmental performance - -55C to +125C?

  • Dan,
I am with the group that supports the High Reliability product. From my research, there should be any long term issues with source of supply for the ceramic version.

All the variants shown in the datasheet are same temp range, -55 to 125.
This is unique, as most commercial plastic devices are not in the military temp range. The obvious differences with the ceramic device vs the plastic that it is more robust physically. It is hermetic, and insensitive to moisture.

    As far as physical compatibility.
The CD4024BF shows the following dimensions (they are near the end of the datasheet)
    Package J
Body length: 0.785 max Dimension B
Body width 0.300 (nom) Dimension C
Lead bend also shows 0.300. Dimension A

    Package N
    The CD4024BE shows this:
    Body length : 0.775 max Dimension A
Body Width : 0.260 max Dimension labeled on drawing
Lead bend is at 0.300 Dimension labeled on drawing.

So, the width of the plastic package is 40mils narrower, but other dimensions align. This should physically work.

  • I was able to confirm that there are no issues with source of supply, however there is some backlog to orders.
