CD4041UB: Driving optocoupler

Part Number: CD4041UB

Hi Ti,

PLS advise if can i drive with IC PN CD4041UBPW (VDD=10v) the optocoupler PN PS8101  at temperature range from  -40C to 85C ?

1.when i have 277 ohm near to output driver in series connect to another series resistance of 250 then the last connect to LED optocoupler.

2.When i use one input and output (one buffer from the 6 buffer) and the VOH=9V and VOL=0.5v.

Thank you.

Ilan

  • Ilan,

The operating temp range of the CD4041B device is -55 to 125C. So its within your desired -40 to 85C temp range.
Regarding the drive strength, I see from the datasheet that this can drive (sink or source) up to max 4mA during 10V operation.
It can also drive higher current but the output voltage starts to increase(Vol) or decrease( Voh) depending the current drive.

Would that be enough for proper operation?
