PAL16L8A-2M: Floating Input

Part Number: PAL16L8A-2M

Dear All,

I've a question about PAL16L8A-2M: if the component connected to the input fails, leaving the pin "floating", what happen? The input "floating" goes "high", "low" or begins to swing?

I hope my question is clear...

Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • Stefano,
If the output driving the input is high-impedance, then the input could be anywhere within the supply range. If above the Vih level, then it will be high. If below Vil, then low. If in between, then there is not a deterministic answer. It could also cause oscillations as the voltage varies.
