Compiler/PAL16L8A-2M: PAL16L8A-2M programmer

Part Number: PAL16L8A-2M

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Would you please provide some information about the procedure of programming your part. (What is the programmer specification)

I'd be grateful if you send me any document explaining about your programmers and programming procedure.

Also, could you please let me know what is the acceptable format for your part programing and how it is comparable to Motorola translation format 055-0082-ASCII Hex Motorola Exorciser Format?

  • Saeideh,

I am not certain if I will be able to locate the programming specifications for this device.  I will search.  However, it is strongly recommended to use a robust programmer such as the DATAIO, or BPMicro.  These programmers have implemented the algorithms and they are tested and proven over time.

Some of the newer programmers indicate they are capable of programming these devices.  However, not all of them will have as good of results as the DataIO or BPMicro.

The primary programming file that I am aware of a JEDEC fuse file (.JED).  This fuse file is created/compiled by the tool used to create the logic function.  I do not know of any programming file translators.   Ie, take a fuse file from one target device and create one for different device.

The tool also will know information about the specific device, and insure that all necessary fuses are blown.  There may not be a 1 to 1 mapping with competitive devices.

If you have the source file that generated the fuse file, then it may be possible to get that tool up and running and compile for new target.

Unfortunately, there is very little deep-expertise remaining on these extremely old devices.

    Regards,

    Wade

  • Saeideh,

I was able to locate the very old (1988) programming specification.

I will email it to you.

  • Wade,

Thank you so much for sending the programming instruction. I have another question about your part as well. Could you please provide some information about the part life cycle? Looks like your part is pretty much old and it may be obsolete earlier than what we think.

Please provide some information about the life cycle of the PAL16L8A-2M.

  • This is a duplicate post.

    See
