Hi,

We want to replace our obsolete part PALC16L8-40DMB with your part PAL16L8A-2M. The main problem is that the lead size of your part is the way larger than our part lead and as we cannot make any changes to our boards holes so we will need to search for another part which has the same packaging as 20-Lead Ceramic Dual In-line with Window (JW) – 300 mil (CERDIP). I'd be grateful if you recommend us another part similar to 

PAL16L8A-2M but with the above-mentioned packaging.

    Hello,

    Thank you so much for providing the list but still my problem is not solved as the packaging is all the same, CDIP 20. The current part we have it's pin lead size is 0.015-0.020 and your part's packaging has 0.014 to 0.026. The problem is that we have no idea if your package will fit in our board.

    Maybe I am wrong about your part packaging. Would you please check and see if the package of PAL16L8A-2M has a lead size different than 0.014 to 0.026.

    Sorry for delay, this thread did not get back into my queue properly.

    I tried to find the packaging information for your existing device, and I was not successful.

    Can you provide or point to the package outline drawing that you are using?

    With respect to our J  CDIP package.  You are correct.  The leadframe pin size is 0.014 to 0.026 in.  This complies with Mil-std-1835 GDIP1-T20.

    I do know that the actual tolerance from our leadframe provider is significantly tighter than what is specified in our package drawing.   Unfortunately, we cannot commit to these tighter tolerances.

    It is very likely that your board design complies with the footprint for GDIP1-T20, and you will not have issues.

    Hopefully this helps.

    If necessary, I can arrange a call with our Quality engineer that is very familiar with these packages to help ensure that there will not be a mount issue.
