[FAQ] How do you determine the output pulse width and the 'K' value for a monostable multivibrator?

FAQ: Logic and Voltage TranslationMonostable Multivibrators >> Current FAQ

The output pulse width (tw) is determined with the following equation:

tw = K * R * C

with R := external timing resistor, C := external timing capacitor, K := timing constant from the datasheet

Each device will have values for K listed in the datasheet, usually in a plot. K is dependent on the external capacitor value, supply voltage, and temperature
