SN74GTLPH16912: SN74GTLPH16912 this support BTL logic

Hi,

I am using SN74GTLPH16912 GTLP part design.

Can this part replace BTL transceivers because previous design using FB2030 part 5V compatible part.

New design using 3.3V logic peripheral planning to use this part.

On back plane side having BTL logic but this IC is GTLP , datasheet also not mentioned compatible with BTL.

Provide clarification on this part is compatible with BTL logic.

Hi Vinayak,

There are slight differences between GTL and BTL logic.

They are highlighted in this appnote. Now the question on whether this part will work in your design. You have to check whether the differences matter for your design. Do you need open collector outputs?

In that case, the GTL part will not work for you as it has push-pull outputs.

Hi Karan,

As you mentioned this GTL device is push pull type output.

Whether you mentioned at LVTTL side or GTL side..?

Previous reply i mentioned open collector for GTL side.

Datasheet provided port B is sink upto 50mA but not mentioned about logic type.

Hi Vinayak,

I looked incorrectly, this device has open-drain outputs. I think the only difference I see between GTL and BTL outputs is that GTL have CMOS outputs and inputs with the ability to set a BIAS voltage. While BTL inputs and outputs are Bipolar. So you should be able to replace your BTL logic with this GTL logic. But confirm the device meets all your key requirements (voltages, frequencies, and timings).
