SN74AHCT1G32: VCC 3.3V critical?

Part Number: SN74AHCT1G32
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LV1T34

Hi,

my customer uses SN74AHCT1G32DCKG with 3.3V instead of 5 V by mistake.

#20259_sn74ahct1g32.pdf

According to the attached app note:

  • feeding the device with only 3.3V is not critical
  • the function is not determined by antything
  • the swing threshold are not the ones described in the data sheet, you can estimate them („the switching threshold becomes about 30% of VCC

Can you croeect me if I am wrong with any statements below?

Is there a newer version of this device?

Kind regards,

Marion

  • A supply voltage of 3.3 V is outside the recommended operating conditions. Correct operation is not guaranteed. The app note tells you that "under these conditions the threshold voltage is shifted to values that cannot allow an adequate noise margin in the system".

The electrical characteristics of AHCT inputs at lower voltages are probably similar to those of similar devices such as the SN74LV1T34. But this is neither tested nor guaranteed.
