Part Number: SN74LV05A

in the datasheet, Vo(abs max) is 0V~Vcc+0.5V. I can also find "This value is limited to 5.5-V maximum."

Why you do not write Vo(asb max) is 0V~5.5V? we can find Vo(recommend) is 0~5.5V in the datasheet.

is there any reason?

When V_CC is less than 5 V, then V_O must not go above V_CC + 0.5 V. When V_CC is more than 5 V, then V_O must not go above 5.5 V.

I found "voltage range applied to any output in the high-impedance or power-off state -0.5V(min) ～7V(max)".

I could understand it mean it can use 5V tolerant. please correct my understanding.

The outputs are overvoltage tolerant only in the high-impedance or power-off state.

Actually, open-drain outputs should always be overvoltage tolerant. I think the Absolute Maximum Ratings table has wrong entries.

Hi,

You are correct. The Abs Max table for this part is incorrect. There is no positive clamp diode on the output for this part and so you can have more than Vcc+.5V on the output. So the actual max would be 5.5V.

Not all of our open-drain outputs are over voltage tolerant as some have output positive clamp diodes.
