Hi Team,

My customer is looking at our HCS logic family, checking the datasheet SN74HCS7002-Q1 and SN74HCS02-Q1 have the same function. May I know what is the difference between the SN74HCS7002-Q1 and SN74HCS02-Q1?

Hi Dylan,

Except for the pinouts, do these two devices have other differences? I'm honestly expecting that there is some literature like "Understanding and Interpreting Standard-Logic Data Sheets" ( http://www.ti.com/lit/an/szza036c/szza036c.pdf ) page 15 that shows what each number or letters represents in a part number.

In general, the pinout is part of the function.

"70" might look like a prefix, but it's actually part of a four-digit function number. "02" is the function code for four NOR gates; "7002" is the function code for four NOR gates in the different pinout.

Other devices where the only difference is the pinout are, e.g., SN74CBT1G125‌/‌SN74CBT1G384 or SN74AHC244‌/‌SN74AHC541.
