TXB0106: Alternate buffer for TXB0106 Level translator

Hi,

In our design, we are using 48 inch samtec high speed cable to connect QSPI from another board.

So I am planning to bidirectional buffer for QSPI, but not avilable any bi direction buffer for QSPI. So I am using the TXB0106 bidirectional level translator with both VCCA & VCCB is 1.8V.

Will it work ? Is there any other solution for bi directional buffer which can use our design for QSPI?

A buffer cannot be bidirectional, unless there is a separate direction signal. Is there such a direction signal in your circuit?

In my circuit, using SN74AVC for other unidirectional signals. But for QSPI & I2C there is bidirectional data lines. In this case not able to uni directional buffers. So one more doubt is I am using SN74AVC Level translator as buffer by connecting both VCCA & VCCB with 1.8V. Will it work?

Yes, you can use them as buffers in this way. But instead of a direction-controlled translator with identical supplies, you could just use a transceiver.

Thanks Clemens.

We already designed and released the file based on SN74AVC dual supply transceiver. I hope it will work fine with identical supplies for both VCCA & VCCB.

Need your confirmation. Next what will be TI solution for bi-directional signals which needs to increase drive strength?

Yes, you can use identical supplies.

A bidirectional buffer is not possible. How would the device know which side's voltage should override the other side's voltage?
