TXB0102: Design Review for TXB0102 and TXS0102

Part Number: TXB0102
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0102

Dear Sir,

We are choosing a solution between TXB0102 and TXS0102. In our application is on the MDIO bus for interfacing devices at different interface voltages.

From the datasheet, we see that TXB0102 has a limitation, it can NOT be used in I2C or 1-wire that an open-drain driver is connected to the bidirectional data I/O. I'm not sure if TXB0102 can be used on the MDIO bus.

The circuits of TXB0102 and TXS0102 are shown below, and all details have been designed according to the datasheet. Please help to check if there are any problems.

TXB0102

TXS0102

Note.

1. VCCA (2.7V) ramps up first and then VCCB (2.85V) ramps up after ~12 sec.

2. The I/O drive strength at least 16 mA in our platform.

  • MDIO requires a specific pull-up resistor, so you cannot use the TXB.

The TXS can work. But please note that when the switch is closed, the two external 1.5 kΩ pullups and the two internal 10 kΩ pullups are all connected in parallel. It's likely that the two internal pullups alone are enough for the MDIO data line.
