CD4504B: CD4504B

Part Number: CD4504B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD40109B, TMS320F28335

Hi,

I am using f28335 to control an inverter which its drive needs 15V puls for getting ON. I want to use CD4504B for increasing the voltage of DSP PWM from 3.3v to 15v. I have not worked with this IC before. So my question is that it works for this goal?

Thank you

  • Hello,

I would recommend to use the CD40109B instead, unless you really need the ability to switch between TTL and CMOS signals, which I doubt from your question.

The CD40109B is very simple to use - just apply 3.3V to V_CC and 15V to V_DD and the output will follow the input.

This device does not have a great deal of drive strength, so I don't know if it will have the power required for your application -- you may have to add a gate driver after the voltage conversion.

  • thank you for your reply. the switches are IGBT and they have gate drivers. Just I need to increase the pulses from TMS320F28335 that they are 3.3v to 15 v. So, your suggestion is CD40109B instead of CD4504B for my application.

Just I looked at the datasheet for CD40109B, for example, I have PWM pulses that change from 0 to 3.3V. So I should apply 3.3V to V_CC and 15 V to V_DD, and connect the V_ss to ground (zero). If I consider the A pin as input I should apply 3.3 to the ENABLE A pin and my PWM signal to the A pin to get a signal with an amplitude of 15v in output?

    Thanks

  • Yes, that is correct.
