Recently, there is a new Hex inverter with Schmitt-trigger inputs released. I'm curious about what's the major difference between SN74HC14 and SN74HCS14? Which one you recommend to use on motor drive application?

The HCS family improves on the HC family by adding Schmitt-trigger inputs to all devices, and by using a newer process that reduces power consumption.
The SN74HC14 already has Schmitt triggers, and the CMOS power consumption probably does not matter when you have a motor. But HCS is the more modern family.
The primary purpose of HCS is to be an improved but backwards-compatible upgrade for older designs that use HC. For a new design, it might be a better idea to use a family like AHC, LVC, AUP, or AUC, depending on the required voltage, speed, and drive strength. Please tell us about those.
