Hi team,

Could you help selecting 16-bit shift register? The customer considers using SN74HCS595 and SN74LV595A as 8-bit shift register. Also, they want to look for 16-bit shift register similar to those 2 devices. What TI have 16-bit shift register similar to those 2 devices?

  • HCS has Schmitt-trigger inputs; LV has higher drive strength.

    There are no 16-bit CMOS shift registers because it is so easy to cascade two 8-bit shift registers; just connect the first chip's QH' output to the second chip's SER input; see figure 9-1 of the SN74HCS595 datasheet:
