TXS0108E: Design risk because TXS0108E's Vcca is changed from 1.2V to 1.4V

Hi Team,

TXS0108E changed Vcca fro 1.2V to 1.4V in the version of January 2019. However, in old design, our customer is using TXS0108E for Vcca=1.2V to Vccb=3.3V

Need your confirmation:

1) Can you let us know why we change TXS0108E’s Vcca from 1.2V to 1.4V?

2) For old design(Vcca=1.2V to Vccb=3.3V), if use new materials, is there any risk from your side? Any guide?

See On the previous datasheet, themin VCCA was 1.2V, the reason for the change to 1.4V？

Hi Clemens,

Our customer is using TXS0108EPWR(PW package), not NME package.

So, for our customer's existing design(1.2V-->3.3V), they should continue to use TXS0108EPWR(PW package), correct?

Is there any potential risk here?

Hi Marvin,

I think you may have misread my response in the other thread. I indicated that the issue was found during characterization of the NME package -- not that it only pertains to the NME package.

This applies to all package variants of the TXS0108E, and is the reason the datasheet was changed.

Designs that operate between 1.2V and 1.4V VCCA may still continue to operate, however there is a limited risk that some devices produced may not meet the previous datasheet limit, and therefore operation of the device for VCCA <1.4V is a risk.

For the existing project(1.2V to 3.3V), TXS0108EPWR(PW package) still has design risk, correct?

Do we have p2p solution with TXS0108EPWR(PW package)? We will suggest our customer to p2p replace it in existing projects.

Hi Marvin,

Yes, that is correct.

No, there isn't a P2P replacement.

If you know some details regarding the application (loading, signal directionality, bit rate, etc.) we can try to find a replacement.
