SN74LVC07A: application

Part Number: SN74LVC07A

1. In the d/s, it says that it can produce 24mAof drive current at 3.3V It means 24mA is max. driving current? And how to control the driving current lower than 24mA in application?

2. In the 9.2.1 Design Requirements, what is this meaning? Could you give an example to this requirement? We'd like to know what's the limitation in details? Very thanks.

  • 1. 24 mA is the maximum current for which a voltage drop is specified. You can try to sink larger currents (up to the absolute maximum rating), but then there is no guarantee for the voltage drop.

    2. "Balanced output drives" applies to devices with push/pull outputs. For an open-drain device like this, this sentence does not make sense. However, bus contention is still possible if you connect an active (low) output to another active high output; in that case, the current is likely to exceed the absolute maximum rating.
