Dear Experts,

Can I know the difference between level shifter and SN65C3238DBR(line driver).I know the details about level shifter, But I'm able to understand the exact difference between these two components.

Hey Naveen,

I dont support the SN65C3238DBR device so I can't really comment on it. However, I do support the TXS0108E which is a generic level shifter with auto direction sensing capabilities. Its suited for open-drain interfaces like I2C that need to be level shifted.

The TXS0108E converts between logic signals at two different voltages.
The SN65C3238 converts between logic signals and RS-232 signals.

For logic signals, 0 = GND, 1 = V_CC.
For RS-232, 0 = +3 to +15 V, 1 = −15 to −3 V.
