SN74LVC1T45: Degrading Temperature

Part Number: SN74LVC1T45

At what temperature does part number SN74LVC1T45DCKT start to degrade?

  • What is meant by 'degrading'? The recommended operating conditions of the SN74LVC1T45 is -40 to 85C. The electrical characteristics of the device are only guaranteed when the device is being operated in this temperature range.

  • The max temperature before it enters thermal shutdown, the max operating temp is 85 but the max junction temp is 150 so should the value not exceed 85 or 150?

  • Andres,

There isn't a 'thermal shutdown'. This is more about damaging the device. Keeping the device below 85 ensures the behavior of the device is within the specifications listed in the datasheet. You can exceed 85C but the behavior may not and probably would not match the listed specifications. Exceeding 150C would fall under the first note beneath the absolute max rating table. To quote the datasheet, "Stresses beyond those listed under Absolute Maximum Ratings may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings only, which do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended Operating Conditions. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability."
In short, I would recommend keeping the temperature below 85.

    Thanks,
    Rami
