SN74AC240-Q1 / output-enable input

Guru 29690 points

Hi Team,

My customer considers not to use #OE pin and tie the pin to GND through a pull-down resistor.
Is it possible to use 100kΩ resistor for the pull-down resistor?
I believe it is possible because input current is 1uA(MAX).

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Yaita san,

when you say not to use OE pin , does that mean to not use a portion of the 8 bits or does it mean channels always enabled ?
A 100kohm will be a weak pulldown which could be used. The input current will not change regardless of the pulldown used since the CMOs inputs are high Z. You could use 1Kohm resistor to gnd and it should work just fine.
  • Hi ShreyasRao-san,

I believe my customer considers channels always enabled.
I appreciate for your kind advice!
