I saw on the forum that Unused Output/input pins can be tied to gnd. What should be done with the direction pin? Tie it to gnd or leave it floating?

Hi Emrys,
Yes I agree in normal operation that the device needs the direction to be selected and not left floating.
However what do I do with an unused DIR pin? Can it be left floating or does it need to be tied to VCC/GND?
The datasheet only indicates that unsued input/outputs should be tied to gnd.
