    No, time is not a consideration for these overshoots.

    The device has a rated maximum for voltage and current on the inputs, shown in table 6.1 on the datasheet.

    This table indicates that the input can exceed -0.5V if the input current remains less than 50mA. In most cases, this is true and undershoot is not a problem. If this is a concern, an added series resistor can guarantee a current limit and prevent damage to the device.
