I have applications using the old 74VHC die (04 and 139). One place has the backside to gnd and the other to Vcc. It seems to work. I'm replacing the 74VHCT04 with 74ACT04 and that one has the backside grounded. Will that work properly?
In the 74VHC139, we want to look at the suggested replacement of 74AHC139. That site has the backside to Vcc (+5V). Is that acceptable. or does it matter?
