SN74LVC1G14: SN74LVC1G14DBVR

Part Number: SN74LVC1G14

I would like to use SN74LVC1G14DBVR with 5V input at 3.3V power supply (Vcc is 3.3V and Vi is 5V ). Is it OK like that? Is it harmful to the  SN74LVC1G14DBVR?
Thank you,
Best regards

  • Hello,

Here is an FAQ that talks about using a Vi that is greater than Vcc: e2e.ti.com/.../723607

As mentioned in the FAQ, if you look at the Abs Max Ratings table of the datasheet, you will notice that the SN74LVC1G14 does not have a positive clamp diode. What this means is that up to 6.5V can be applied to inputs regardless of Vcc without damaging the device.

    Thanks!
