SN74AVC32T245: Maximum Switching Speed

Part Number: SN74AVC32T245

Hi, I am looking to use either the SN74AVC32T245ZKER in a test fixture and I was wondering if you could clarify on the switching speeds for 1.8V to 3.3V level translation.

SN74AVC32T245ZKER promises a 1.8V to 3.3V level translation at 380 Mbps. I am not certain if this means 11.875 MHz x 32 bits or 380 MHz switching speed. All test numbers show 10 MHz and below.

Can you clarify on the maximum switching speed on this part?

Thanks!

  • Hi Harley, and welcome to the forums!

Be careful not to confuse 380 Mbps with 380 MHz!  The SN74AVC32T245 can support signals up to 380 Mbps on each data line when translating up from 1.8V to 3.3V. That's 190 MHz for a square wave clock.

It's important to note that any transceiver or buffer will only give an estimated maximum frequency -- only clocked devices have a maximum clock frequency specified.  There's an FAQ that has a little more information here:
