SN74LVC2T45: SN74LVC2T45 is burnout and broken, do you know what it happened?

Part Number: SN74LVC2T45
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVS881, TPIC6A595

Hi team,

My customer found in some their product, SN74LVC2T45 is burnout and broken. Below pic are SCH and product after burnout. Do you know what it will happen? And could you give us some suggestions?

  • Hi Eggsy,

The schematic doesn't show anything much other than the connections and voltages on the supply. I do not see anything wrong with the schematic snip you have shown here.

The direction is set for B to A signal transmission. What are the input voltage levels on the B ports. Are there input signal waveform scopeshot? Where is the output channel going to and what is the external load each channel is trying to drive? Both the devices seems to be burning out. Is this board / system newly built or is this first time the application is being tested? what are the top side markings on the device?

  • Hi Eggsy,

Is there any update on the issue? I will close this for now and once you have received more info, you can reply here which will open the thread again to notify me.

  • Hi ShreyasRao,

Sorry for delay reply due to customer in holiday.

I would like to show below pic to you. The B signal come from SN65HVS881 SOP pin and TPIC6A595 SEROUT pin. The A signal will arrive to FPGA . This is old project and MP a long time.

    Do you have any suggestions?

  • Hi Eggsy,

I briefly looked into the 2 devices and I see that the output has 10k pulldown. The drive strength of the SN65 device is rated for 20uA. Please let me know if the device can support 5/10k = ~ 0.5mA of current?
  • Since this has been in production for long without issues, please let me know the top side marking on the device.
if there are any other waveforms /scopeshots available, please do share.
