SN74LVC08A: the input is over the datasheet spec(-0.5v) to -0.8v, whether it has risks here?

Part Number: SN74LVC08A

Hi team,

My customer is using the SN74LVC08A now, the input is over the datasheet spec(-0.5v) to -0.8v, whether it has risks here? Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,
The negative input voltage limitation can be exceeded as long as the input clamp diode current is not exceeded. I have never seen an overshoot like this cause enough current to be a problem -- but if the customer is very concerned, they could measure the current at that time.
