Team,

we would need to drive relay at 40mA@5V; which device similar to SN74LVC1G07 could handle that? Single channel driver would be preferred.

Is it possible and practical to parallel 2x drivers?

There are logic families that can drive 40 mA or more with a single pin (LVT, ABT, FCT, F, etc.), but those devices have at least four channels (e.g., SN74LVTH125).

In your case, a two-channel driver would be the simplest solution (see [FAQ] Can I connect two outputs from a CMOS logic device together directly?); just use the SN74LVC2G07.
