SN74AVC16T245: Output Resistor necessary?

Hello

Is it necessary to add a output series resistor for the SN74AVC16T245 to adapt the impedance to 50Ohm or does it have Dynamic Output Control (DOC) like the buffer SN74AVC16244 which is also of AVC logic type?

Hi Haje,

It is not required for the device to function correctly. It will only be necessary if the reflections cause your system any issues.

Ok, so I assume that it does not have Dynamic Output Control like the AVC buffers where a series resistor is not necessary at all.

Hi Haje,

Yes, the AVC16T245 does not have dynamic output control because it is a bidirectional translator. There is not one designated output for the device to be able to drive a low impedance output to unlike the AVC16244 which is a 16 bit driver.

That being said the output of the AVC16T245 output should not be a problem unless your system is sensitive to reflections.
