Hello,

I am looking for level translators from 1.8 -> 3.3 and 3.3 -> 1.8 for Ethernet PHY applications (MII, RMII and RGMII).

In the search page : http://www.ti.com/logic-circuit/voltage-level-translation/products.html#p941=MDIO;RGMII there are certain parts marked for RGMII, I was wondering how this was determined, as the datasheet of the part I listed above (SN74AXCH8T245) says it is designed for asynchronous communication and has no mention of RGMII on the datasheet.

If you want to provide me with specifications on what you are looking for, I can help you find a device. I am not sure on RGMII requirements but if you know your systems frequency of operation, number of channels and voltage levels, I can recommend a part.

    I need a uni directional push-pull level translator capable of up and down voltage conversions between 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V. If possible something specific to MII, RMII and RGMII applications. Here are some more details:

    1. The signals consist of clocks and data pins synchronous to the clocks
    2. The signals are clocked at speeds at 2.5 MHz, 25 MHz, 50 MHz and 125 MHz
    3. Data may be clocked on both the rising and falling edge
    4. I need a two sets of 8 (signals going in opposite directions), so if there is a 16 signal part I'd need it to be configurable.

  • A 125 MHz square wave (with DDR signals) corresponds to 250 Mbps, i.e., one bit has a length of 4 ns.

    At 1.8 V, the only translators that are fast enough are in the AXC family. So your only choices are the SN74AXC8T245 or SN74AXCH8T245.
